After a month of living in Rome, I am still amazed at how significant pieces of history are woven into neighborhoods. One such marvel is the Alexandrina Aqueduct which stands in the heart of the Torpignattara neighborhood. Built in AD 226, this ancient structure stretches 22 kilometers and runs between Via Prenestina and Via Casilina. Its high arches made of concrete and bricks, run above ground through a peaceful park. 

In the evenings, Alexandrina Aqueduct Park comes alive with the sounds of children playing, parents socializing, and even birthday parties. A unique aspect of this park is the Garden of Religions, installed in 2024. Trees were planted as symbols of different religions in the neighborhood, each paired with a prayer. This reflects the harmony of the multicultural and multi-religious community in the Torpignattara. 

Nearby, the park offers a community garden, a Free Little Library, a skate park , and chess tables all set against the backdrop of the ancient aqueduct. The Alexandrina Aqueduct Park blends historical significance and modern community living making it the perfect spot to enjoy the best of both worlds.
